FLUCORIX IV

Composition

Fluconazole Infusion BP (200 mg/100ml)

Description

FLUCORIX IV is an antifungal medication used to treat serious fungal infections, such as those caused by Candida (yeast). While Fluconazole is common in tablet form, the IV version is used for systemic infections where the fungus has entered the bloodstream or reached internal organs like the heart, lungs, or urinary tract. It works by interfering with the synthesis of the fungal cell membrane, making it impossible for the fungus to survive.

It is particularly important for patients with weakened immune systems, such as those undergoing chemotherapy or recovering from major surgery. It is generally well-tolerated, but it can interact with many other medications, so doctors must review a patient’s entire medicine list before starting it. Common side effects are mild and include nausea or stomach pain. Liver function is usually monitored if the patient needs to stay on the medication for an extended period.
