Enist-RT

Composition

Ondansetron Injection IP (2 mg/ml)

Description

Enist-RT is an anti-emetic medication, usually containing Ondansetron. It is designed to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting, particularly when caused by surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. It works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural chemical in the body that can trigger the “vomit center” in the brain and the gut. By binding to 5-HT3 receptors, it stops the signal that tells the body to feel nauseous.

In a hospital or clinical setting, the “RT” (Ready-to-use) injection is highly effective because it provides rapid relief. It is often administered before a procedure to ensure the patient remains comfortable and does not experience post-operative complications. Unlike older anti-nausea drugs, it does not typically cause heavy sedation or “drowsiness,” making it a preferred choice for modern medical practice. Side effects are generally mild but can include headaches, constipation, or a feeling of warmth/flushing at the injection site.
