Biaprime

Composition

Biapenem Injection (300 mg)

Description

Biaprime contains Biapenem, which is a potent antibiotic from the carbapenem group. It is used to treat a wide range of severe bacterial infections, including pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections, and intra-abdominal infections. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which causes the bacteria to eventually burst and die. Biapenem is particularly useful because it is highly resistant to many of the enzymes that bacteria produce to protect themselves from other antibiotics.

In a clinical setting, Biaprime is often reserved for infections that do not respond to standard treatments. It is administered intravenously and is known for having a good safety profile with fewer side effects compared to some other carbapenems. However, doctors still monitor renal (kidney) function closely during treatment. Common side effects may include nausea or a mild rash. Because it is a “broad-spectrum” drug, it acts against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making it a versatile tool for doctors in intensive care.
