Aminosys is very similar to Aminos Injection but often comes as a more comprehensive “all-in-one” infusion. It contains high-quality amino acids and is sometimes balanced with specific electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium. This ensures that the patient not only gets the protein building blocks they need but also maintains a healthy fluid and mineral balance. It is specifically designed for “Total Parenteral Nutrition” (TPN) in critically ill patients in the ICU.
The goal of Aminosys is to prevent “Negative Nitrogen Balance,” a dangerous state where the body starts breaking down its own muscle tissue for energy. It is particularly helpful for patients with gastrointestinal issues, such as a blocked bowel or severe malabsorption, where the stomach cannot process food. Because it is highly concentrated, it is often given through a “Central Line” (a large vein near the heart) to avoid irritating smaller veins. Regular blood tests are a standard part of the protocol to adjust the dosage based on the patient’s daily needs.
