ImiWell

Composition

Imipenem (500mg) + Cilastatin (500mg) Injection I.P.

Description

IMIWELL is a combination antibiotic consisting of Imipenem (a carbapenem) and Cilastatin. Imipenem is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills a vast range of bacteria, while Cilastatin is added to protect the Imipenem from being broken down by the kidneys. This ensures the antibiotic stays in the body long enough to fight the infection. It is used for very serious, life-threatening infections of the blood, lungs, abdomen, and female reproductive system.

Like other carbapenems, IMIWELL is considered an “antibiotic of last resort.” It is highly effective against bacteria that have developed resistance to most other drugs. It is strictly an IV medication administered in a hospital. One specific thing doctors watch for with Imipenem is the risk of seizures, especially in patients with pre-existing brain conditions or kidney problems. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. It is a powerful tool in the ICU for stabilizing critically ill patients.
