Ceftarix-250

Composition

Ceftazidime Injection IP (1 gm)

Description

Ceftarix-250 contains Ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is a highly effective, broad-spectrum medicine used to treat many types of bacterial infections, including those of the brain (meningitis), lungs (pneumonia), ears, urinary tract, and skin. It works by preventing bacteria from forming their cell walls, which leads to the collapse and death of the bacterial cell. The 250mg dose is often used for targeted infections or for pediatric patients under specific guidance.

Ceftriaxone is notable for its long half-life, meaning it stays in the system for a long time and often only needs to be administered once a day. It is usually given via intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection. It is highly effective against Gram-negative bacteria that may be resistant to older penicillins. While generally safe, some patients may experience diarrhea or pain at the injection site. It is crucial that this antibiotic is not mixed with calcium-containing IV fluids, as it can form particles that are dangerous to the lungs and kidneys.
